On August 3, 2023, the Alberta Utilities Commission paused approvals of new renewable electricity generation projects. This pause was active immediately upon its announcement and is set to remain in place until February 29, 2024. The justification for this decision and further details can be found here, but what matters most for Solar Offset members is that this pause only applies to utility-scale projects.
As projects registered with Solar Offset are classified as microgeneration projects, they are exempt from the pause.
